Guneet Kwatra Singh (GUNTZ) took down the title of ‘The Millionaire’ on The Spartan Poker on February 11th, winning him over Rs. 24.5L. Based in Bangalore at the moment, Singh works with a start-up after an MBA and years work experience on his resume.
Congratulations Guneet! How does it feel to ship such a big event?
Thanks for the wishes. The feeling is quite unexplainable to be honest. Both, the experience and the result have been quite thrilling!
Did you expect to make it to the Final Table in the middle of the tournament?
I had a decent stack with around 300 left, but then lost a few pots near the bubble. Post-bubble I had a couple of really good levels and was amongst the top 10 stacks with around 100 odd left. That was when I felt that I could go really deep into this one.
Any particular hand that helped stack up?
In a deep tournament like The Millionaire, there are more than a few hands that are key at different stages. There was a crucial hand post-bubble (KK>AK PFAI) for over 100 BBs that helped me get in the top 10 stacks. Another critical hand was during the final 2 tables, when I bluff-caught one of the CLs who took a bet-bet-bet line on an A high board with a missed flush draw on the river. That made me a top-3 stack with about 15 left.

Whichever helps me win chips :D
Lastly, what do you think about the India Poker Ranking concept?
I think it’s a great concept, and one for which there was a definite requirement as there was no place to track cumulative ranking for Indian sites. Wish you guys all the best!
