Sahil ‘ImHighIShove’ Mahboobani took down The Spartan Poker’s Quickie Series #34 The Finale (Buy in Rs. 5,500) for a massive Rs. 10,40,000 to his bankroll after a six and a half hours game last night. What’s more awesome is that he did this not from his home in Gurgaon, but from his grinding schedule in Goa!
Congratulations Sahil! How did you manage live and online together?
Thanks a lot. I actually came to Goa about 10 days ago with a couple of friends to grind and relax. In order to play of a couple of the big online events, I decided to skip the DPT High Roller Day 1A today, and thankfully I was fortunate!!
So, are you playing today then?
Yes, I will be playing Day 1B of the DPT Main today.
Having seen success in both formats (online and live), how different are they and what is more challenging in your opinion?
Live tournaments are much more difficult I feel. Its like a marathon which requires a lot of mental stamina and energy to stay focussed. I am relatively new to live tournaments and I’m trying to get as much experience as I can.
What do you think about the Indian Poker Industry? How different is it abroad, since you’ve been in Hong Kong for most part.
There’s a rapid boom in India right now, it’s getting bigger and better, which is one of the reasons I moved here from Hong Kong last year. Prior to this, I was a recreational online MTT player on FullTilt and PokerStars. Gaming has always interested me, I have represented Hong Kong in CS (Counter Strike) for many years. I remember using our school lunch money to play poker with friends at the age of say 15. The interest has only grown and for good reason!
Tell us about your experience in Live tournaments, you must be regular at MPC.
Well this is my fifth live event. I have played MPC events in the past, and previous DPTs too. I’ve had several deep druns but no live FTs yet. Hopefully, soon to come.
Of course Sahil, India Poker Ranking wishes you the best for today and all other future games! Cheers!
